onto today’s topic: weekly startup spotlight 🤖

a cool startup i came across this week is working towards reducing nurse burden when completing home visits and the associated documentation: andy ai.

andy is particularly interesting to me because i previously interned at a startup in the home health space and we actually identified the time and cost associated with our nurses completing home visits as a huge pain point. there were ideas of creating our own version of andy internally, so it’s pretty cool to see a startup spun out of a problem we were working to solve in order to optimize efficiency for our operations. ⚙️

essentially, andy is a b2b ai platform designed to streamline the documentation process for home healthcare clinicians by generating accurate oasis reports in under 15 minutes. it enhances productivity by capturing more patient data than a typical clinician, hence reducing burnout and improving patient care. the platform integrates with leading electronic health records (ehrs) and allows clinicians to save significant time on documentation, enabling them to focus on providing care.

let’s talk numbers! 🤓

the global home healthcare market is projected to reach approximately $500 billion by 2026, growing at a compound annual growth rate (cagr) of around 8.2% during the forecast period from 2020 to 2026 (source). within this space, documentation is a huge problem which can take 90 minutes for a single patient and costs agencies $8b per year (source). andy has reduced this 90-minute documentation process to a 15-minute review. ⏱️

questions i’d be interested to ask:

  • what does the user experience flow look like for clinicians?

  • who are your current main competitors? what is stopping existing home health startups from adopting similar technology internally?

  • how do you ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, such as hipaa, and what measures are in place to protect patient data?

that’s andy!
