onto todayâs topic: apply anyways đ«”
donât meet all the requirements on an internship opening?
not proficient in specified programming languages?
donât think your profile is impressive enough for a scholarship?
unsure if you have a chance for an acceptance?
apply anyways.
why turn a 2% chance into a 0%?đ€š i know that thereâs a price in taking the time and effort to craft an application, but if this is a job, scholarship, art competition, club, anything that really speaks to you, take a leap of faith and just apply.
rejection will be inevitable, but the thing about rejection in this case is that it doesnât automatically carry over to the next application. itâs temporary â you have a fresh slate and a clear shot next time too.
thereâs no use stalling until you have a perfect profile. apply now, apply anyways.
youâll never definitively know the result of taking a chance.
i got my first paid internship at a startup in 10th grade because i took a chance and applied anyways. it was obvious, there was no way an early venture would take on a high school student to take ownership of so many important tasks. âïž
it was a healthtech startup helping underserved families. my literal dream (to this day). i found myself getting more and more excited as i read through the internship job description. once i reached the âeligibilityâ section, the doubt crept in. would it be worth editing my resumĂ© and answering character questions for a guaranteed rejection?
i had nothing else to do that day, so i thoughtâwhy not?â i had an interview the next week, and an offer 2 weeks after that. (:
it doesnât matter if you think youâre under qualified, if your impressive friends have already applied, if youâve passed the listed deadline, or if you donât meet the age requirements. just apply anyways.
