onto today’s topic: appreciation for walking 🚶‍♀️

perks of living in the city is that you learn to walk everywhere, and it’s a lot of fun.

i easily got 10,000+ steps daily and developed a love for walking while in sf. 7 minute bus vs. 30 minute walk? 3 months ago i would have taken the bus. now? of course i’m walking (unless i’m on a major time crunch).

walking lets you be more present and in-tune with the world. 🌎️ it opens you up to the possibilities of a chance encounter with an old friend, discovering a new café or joining in on some local event. it gets me out of my bubble and more aware of the world around me.

we think of commutes as a means to get from one place to another. if you have the time, they can also be an amazing opportunity to explore and disconnect from our phones. after all, you’re not really on your phone while walking (unless you’re insane).

i needed to go to shoppers drug mart this morning and decided to walk 35 minutes instead of driving or getting on a bus. i was able to soak in the scarce canadian sunlight and even get a run in. i ended up feeling 10x more energized for the rest of my day, so even if walking took longer and maybe shortened my “productive time,” i was that much more efficient with the time i had left.

touch grass! walk everywhere! live in the world we’re physically in! 🌳
