onto today’s topic: ask for feedback 🌱

having a growth mindset is often extended as a piece of advice, and the best way to embody it is to open yourself up to feedback.

not just receiving feedback with an open mind, but also going out of your way to seek it out. it seems like a no-brainer to chase after an easy opportunity to learn more, doesn’t it? it’s easy to chase after obvious opportunities for growth: attending conferences, applying to internships, and building projects. feedback seems non-obvious, but in reality we just don’t reach for it because it inherently comes with an element of criticism, and that’s harder to stomach. 😬

feedback is abundant, you just have to ask for it. it comes with more perks than you think. you continue a relationship, leave a good impression of having a growth mindset, and have tangible next steps for improvement.

the biggest blocker is becoming more comfortable with not being perfect. i also want to preface to also take other people’s feedback with a grain of salt — evaluate for yourself whether or not it makes sense. after all, feedback is typically tied to the giver’s unique lived experiences. 🤷‍♀️

asking for feedback doesn’t mean you have to implement all of it. it’s always a good thing to collect more information and datapoints about yourself though.
