onto today’s topic: art of being on aux 📻️

the number one thing that boosts my ego is when i’m specifically called onto aux. like, what do you mean you think my music taste is spectacular? 🤭

being chosen to play the music (on aux) means you’re responsible for setting the vibe and getting some good energy going. i realized really quickly that it doesn’t mean strictly play your own playlist and expect everyone to be jamming out.

i listen to a lot of smaller artists, so if i did this chances are nobody would really be singing along.

being on aux means knowing how to read the room. throw in some classics, some fresh music, and actually take in the reception. if people are bouncing a leg, singing along or nodding heads, it’s a good sign. 👍️

reading a room is so important in making friends, networking, having a fun time, and so much more. being a fabulous aux is one example of it amongst countless others.

my strategy is queuing up songs and curating a specific vibe. playlists take too long and are restrictive. it’s easier to pop in suggestions and create a flexible jam session when songs are just queued up. 🎶

the ability to make other people feel comfortable is singlehandedly the best feeling ever. knowing something you did is the reason why someone might be enjoying themselves is such a warm sensation, and i relish in it. whether it’s making quality conversation, or creating an unbeatable song lineup, i try my best to read the room and charge the space with positive energy.

happy people makes a happy me. :)
