onto todayâs topic: be early âď¸
as someone that has been on the recruiting side of applications, being early definitely gives you an edge. if youâre scheduled for an interview at 1:30pm, be logged in on zoom by 1:25pm.
think from the recruiterâs perspective: you previous meeting ended early and you could possibly start the next internship interview 5 minutes early. amazing! the applicant is also logged in early, we can kick things off right away.
youâll sometimes get lucky and actually convenience a recruiter, and other times theyâll just appreciate you being punctual. itâs an example of you doing instead of telling for time management / organization. actions speak louder than words, so you want to take advantage of any opportunity to show that in an interview where youâre doing a lot of telling. đŁď¸
not even just interviewing â i know iâm always more invested in earlier applications because i review them as theyâre submitted. even if the interviews are all scheduled for the same week, recruiters may have spent more time reviewing your resume if you were earlier. more applications get submitted the closer it is to the deadline, so they canât look over those as leisurely as they did with early ones.
of course, some organizations just look at all of them together after the deadline, but submitting early isnât a bad price to pay for a possible edge in the ruthless application game. đ¤ˇââď¸
even if youâre not early, at least be on time. being late never leaves a good impression on friends, recruiters, mentors, colleagues ⌠anyone.
