onto today’s topic: black friday isn’t real 🛍️
back in the good old days, people would fight tooth and nail to get the last 80% off sweater at a nike store on black friday.
now? we’re lucky to enter a 5% off promo code online. 🎟️
where is the passion?
the other day i was enlightened by the fact that some people actually consider black friday a full-blown holiday. but, what are we celebrating? consumerism? 😭
maaaaybe i would understand it being a holiday if it was still as intense as when i was a kid: people camping outside of stores the night before and breaking out into fist fights for a good deal. now, everything is online and sales are non-existent, so it’s just another day.
not to mention, “black friday deals” start as soon as november 1st hits, so the actual day has 0 significance.
i was in the mood to thrift today, and only realized that it was black friday when i walked into the store and was bestowed the honour of experiencing a 30% sale. 😍 i literally never feel like shopping for the sake of shopping .. maybe the black friday spirit possessed me today. i did end up finding a lot of cute pieces perfect for the cooling weather so i’d consider it a win.
do you consider black friday a holiday?
