onto today’s topic: cards-induced delirium 🃏
i love card games. they’re such an easy way to hang out, and one of my favourite parts of traveling japan with friends has been our daily games of “black 3s.”
i don’t know if it’s actually an established game, but we have an absolute blast playing. whether it’s at the grocery store, deciding who gets first shower, or at the dining table, the cards will be out. as hyoungwoo (another intern) put it, we’re “card addicts.”
somehow the game also introduces a sense of delirium. i can’t think of a better way to put it, but our games are literal brainrot. 💀 we start cracking unfunny jokes that send us into spirals of uncontrollable laughter and lose our minds in the best way possible.
idk if this is relatable at all, but that delirium is a fun feeling. being so unserious and unapologetically comfortable about it .. it’s a funny time. i look forward to playing cards with sachi & philip, and will definitely be making cards a permanent carry-on item once i get home.
today we played for 2 hours straight and sachi had to pry the cards away from me before i could yell, “one more game!” there’s just enough strategy involved in the game that i don’t feel annoyed, but still a large element of luck so that i’m entertained. 😋
many of my favourite moments in school were also when we were playing card games like bhabhi, signal, spoons, our walmart version of poker, and more. now, i’ll add black 3s to the list. (:
