maximizing closet potential
an idea to reduce overconsumption 🛍️
welcome to introspection ft. harsehaj! ⭐️ i’m harsehaj, an 18 y/o always up to something in social good x tech.
this publication is a place for me to reflect on a new topic daily, and send it to your inbox. if you’re new here, sign up to tune in! you reading this is keeping me accountable, so thank you for that. as a treat, i drop cool tech resources/opportunities at the end. 💌
btw, feel free to reply with topic ideas you want me to write about for future posts.
onto today’s topic: maximizing closet potential 🛍️
over the years, i’ve built a large collection for my closet.
sometimes, i don’t even remember what i own. i go out to buy a dress for a certain occasion and a week later, i’ll stumble across something similar already in my closet or even an outfit combination i didn’t think of before that would have sufficed.
i don’t really max out the potential of my closet and defer to buying more. 🛒
i’m sure the same goes for countless others, and this problem makes its way back to overconsumption and its effects on the planet. this simple change of knowing what you own and making the best out of it would make a huge difference not just for the planet, but also in bringing individuality back to personal style, which fast fashion and micro trends have been hacking away at.
it would be so cool if i could just digitize my closet and scroll through a catalogue of my own clothes. you might have seen this coming, but i’m building a tool that helps you & i do exactly that (plus some more). 😋
i’m building clossette, an ai app that enables users to digitize their closet by keeping a log of everything they own and receiving real-time outfit recs based on their schedule/the weather.
i developed the v1 so far: a chatbot that gives textual recommendations based on a prompt the user inputs (ex. “i have an interview soon, what should i wear?”). my next iteration is to build the database aspect where users can upload pictures of their clothes and save it to the app. 📸
i’m super excited about this project and wanted to share! if you want to stay updated with the build, check out my twitter. i’ll also write an introspection ft. harsehaj post about it weekly. ;)
any ideas for clossette’s features? let me know! i would also absolutely love to chat about any ideas you have for your own projects.
