coffee or tea

caffeine wars ☕️

onto today’s topic: coffee or tea ☕️

to preface, i don’t really drink either for the effects — i enjoy the taste of coffee and (some) tea. this tea being a once-in-a-while chai specifically. i haven’t actually tried many other teas outside the south asian classics, so my opinion is pretty biased.

growing up and even now, chai was something i drank when i’m not feeling well. every evening my dad would ask, “sehaj, do you want me to make you chai as well?” and my answer would always be “no way.”

on days where i felt dead to the world, i would begrudgingly mumble a “yes,” knowing how much warmer i’d feel after drinking it. maybe the warmth came from the drink. maybe from the love. 💌

on days like this when i’m living away from my family, i wish i could hold a steaming (half) cup of my dad’s chai and sleepily nod to his daily comment, “today, the chai tastes particularly good.”

like always, i would burn my tongue on the first sip and my mom would hiss in pain with me and then laugh at my carelessness.

chai is home, so for that memory and fondness i will always love it.

however, if we’re talking strictly taste-wise, coffee is an easy winner. LOL. i just really enjoy the taste of coffee (with lots of milk and sugar though)! all of my favourite sweets are coffee flavoured: tiramisu, coffee chocolate, affogato, and so much more.

i probably grab an iced coffee every few weeks or so. i by no means actively drink it. i consider it a little treat once in a while. 😋 i generally don’t drink much of anything besides water, which i try to drink at least 2 litres of daily!

anyways, if someone were to ask me if i like coffee or tea more, my answer would be coffee. BUT, i don’t hate tea.

are you a coffee or tea person?
