a compliment a day
takes 4 words to make someone's day 💋

onto today’s topic: a compliment a day 💋
who doesn’t like being complimented? nobody.
i was looking back at my complimenting-tendencies and realized i'm pretty sparse when it comes to dishing out compliments.
receiving a compliment literally makes my whole day, and i want to be more active about doing the same for others. i’m going to genuinely compliment someone every day for november, and from then on. 🗣️
i'm always mentally complimenting someone’s style, smile, discipline, talent, and so much more — the challenge is vocalizing it, not coming up with something nice to say in the first place. if i’m complimenting just for the sake of filling my daily quota, it’s so superficial and defeats the entire purpose.
it’s hard to turn silent appreciation to something more vocal and public. there’s the ambiguity of the other person’s response, timing and tons of other factors to overthink on. 😵
the key is not thinking about any of that. just a simple, “hey, i think your style is so cool,” smile and walk away will do.
what if they’re creeped out? well, that’s why you keep the interaction short and sweet. it’s not creepy if it’s clear you don’t have ulterior intentions.
if the in-person bit is still too scary, just shoot someone a sweet text. :)
i’m going to challenge myself this month to compliment someone in-person every day. my only intention is to brighten someone’s day even just a little. 🌤️
