onto today’s topic: how do i stay consistent 😵💫
a question i’ve been getting asked a lot recently is, “how do you stay consistent with writing every single day?”
not gonna lie, when my day is packed with an event or something else, it is rough. i have literally written posts while at parties, at a camp in conneticut, and in the airport parking lot. 🛩️
you know those occasional posts that get sent at midnight? yeah, it’s those times. BUT! i still send it out in the end.
you’re probably thinking, “you might as well just not send it at that point ..” however, i have reached a point where writing a post is a necessity for my day. it has been (almost) 3 months of this after all.
during the early days it was harder. one thing that has been working for me has been putting a daily recurring block to write in my google calendar. there’s always time allocated and i can shift the block elsewhere in the day depending on my schedule. on days where i’m out for an event, i make it a point to wake up earlier and write the post, or i’ll write it out on my notes app during a bus ride.
we have a lot more time in our days that you think. ⏰ it’s just about making the most of it. writing this update has been really good to fill up those in-between periods when it’s too short to do any actual work, but too long to just stare at nothing (so you scroll on tiktok or something instead). ex. those 5 mins between meetings, a bus ride, or waiting for a friend at a café.
having something to do during those little chunks has helped me stay consistent too!
time blocking and routine is the #1 thing that helps me practice consistency with all of my habits: reading in the mornings and before bed, writing a post everyday, and rollerblading after dinner + more!
for days that fall out of routine, i just power through it because this commitment is pretty high up on my list of priorities. 📜
