onto today’s topic: consuming less clutter 🛒

the decorations on my wall are the same as they were 6 years ago. my furniture is also the same. i still wear the clothes i bought in 9th grade, and replace my shoes only once they’ve been entirely worn. i also finish up my toiletries before buying new ones.

consuming less clutter doesn’t mean you have to be frugal — it means being intentional about how different purchases actually fit into your life, and not just online comment sections. this is less a discussion about smart money spending, and more-so smart identity crafting. 🤸

i consume to build up my unique identity instead of cycling through trends. the clothes i’ve bought over the years, cds on my wall, plushies, and trinkets displayed on my desk all feel me, and there is depth to my material items through the stories of how i obtained them or stories i’ve shared with them.

i’ve noticed that buying the “new viral ____!” only delayed my journey of finding my own style and creating what actually feels right to me. 🛍️ i have a personal taste and preference for tangible items and that’s the result of me factoring in my own input into before tapping my card.
