onto today’s topic: cookie review 🍪
i have a major sweet tooth. i adore cakes, cookies, chocolate, gulab jamun, ice cream, you name it. i’m a major victim to the “treating myself to something sweet” apocalypse.
yesterday i tried 2 pretty popular cookie chains in the us for the first time: insomnia cookies & crumbl.
i got it, let’s try it and rate it 1-10 (s/o keith lee 😭).
insomnia cookies
we got 2 of the deluxe cookies: s’mores & salted caramel.
aesthetics: visually, the cookies and shop were pretty mediocre. there wasn’t really anything note-worthy about the packaging either.
taste: the flavours were distinct and so yummy. i loved the salted caramel one the most. midway through though, the cookies started to feel super sweet.
value: despite being like $4.80 each, the cookies weren’t that big or thick. think, subway-sized cookies. they had a lot of promotions and free cookie deals, so that was a bonus.
variety: the menu was AMAZING. there was so many great options to choose from with toppings, icecream, cookie types and lots more.
overall, i would rate insomnia cookies an 8/10. ⭐️
crumbl
we got the apple caramel cookie.
aesthetics: the cookie was so pretty, it lived up to the name visually. the packaging was super cute too! the shop, however, looked like a hospital. 😟
taste: … kind of tasted like sand. the only things that somewhat saved it were the toppings. the cookie itself was way too thick and plain so it tasted like nothing.
value: this cookie was priced the same at around $4.80, and for its size and presentation i’d say it was worth the value. but, in the end taste is what matters, and it didn’t really do well.
variety: there were barely any options on the menu. understandable since they have rotating flavours, but it would be cool to see more variation.
overall, i would rate crumbl a 3/10. 📉
this is so detailed for a post about cookies .. i felt very passionate about them what can i say. anyways, insomnia won! i love when my cookies are melting and are super soft. side note, food in the bay is so good. i haven’t had any particularly bad food here .. yet.
what’s your favourite dessert?
