dumb ideas

there's no such thing 🌱

onto today’s topic: dumb ideas 🌱

there definitely are unnecessary ideas, but each idea has potential to grow and learn from. even if they don’t solve some earth shattering problem or showcase novel technology, they certainly aren’t dumb.

right now i’m at buildspace’s irl event, and as i get to know more and more people, i’m constantly thinking to myself: why the hell do i always overthink ideas?

everyone here is building everything imaginable.

and it’s so damn cool. šŸ’«

there’s such a great culture of giving anything a go, and actually putting some effort into it. all ideas have the possibility of pivoting to something novel or a lesson that is invaluable.

i remember brushing off silly, fleeting ideas because they felt dumb and unimportant, but who cares? i don’t know the end results without seeing it through to the end.

success all about taking a chance. solving big problems is a big operation filled with knowledge gaps and learning curves. why not speed up the process by messing around with random ideas? i’m a firm believer that insights compound, and most experiences can be used to bring another project further along. šŸ“ˆ

ideas aren’t just software or coding new tools. content, music, infrastructure, non-profits, ai tools, clothing, bagels (???) are all ideas that promote transformation in peoples’ lives, and that’s all you need to sell something — whether it’s a mission or a product (or both!). each idea has something to learn from. it’s not a dumb idea, it’s an opportunity to experiment and be bold.

think you have a dumb idea? just try it out.
