onto today’s topic: embrace being a beginner 🏋️

at what point did asking questions start becoming something to be embarrassed of?

a willingness to learn and take the hard first step of being a beginner is something to take pride in. it’s a testament to your desire to grow and become a better version of yourself.

being a newbie at something is nothing to be ashamed of.

my fear of seeming like an idiot at the gym is what kept me away from it for so long. this week, i decided to suck it up and get over this fear. i was still hesitant to ask the gym staff where different equipment was or other members about whether or not my form is correct, but i quickly learned that other people are more than willing to help.

especially in a place so charged with the goal of self-improvement, it’s only natural that everyone is in the same boat and want to see each other succeed. remember, everyone starts as a beginner. nobody is squatting 100 pounds on a smith machine with perfect form on their first try.

hell, barely anyone knows how to use the machine on the first try. 😭

i was literally standing at the wrong machine for 10 minutes trying to figure out how to set it up before just asking someone.

ask questions, seek advice and shed your fear of looking incompetent or inferior. the intention for learning should never be a competition, but a journey for your own growth.

being a beginner is cool, your world is getting a little bigger. :)
