the school system sucks: embracing failure

failure shouldn't be so negative ❌

onto today’s topic: embracing failure ❌

in school, failure is the end of the world.

there’s no recovering from it, because that “F” grade marks the end of the journey. even if a teacher says, “you can learn from your mistakes!where are students supposed to apply that learning and growth if there’s no chance to try again?

failure is scary, and school perpetuates this stigma. this is why we are so scared of trying new things and being creative, because that brings us closer to the chance of failure. we are only rewarded in school for being correct, not challenging ourselves and our abilities. 🧗

so of course we would all take the easy way out: steering clear of failure and growing scared of it.

you’ve probably heard this a million times, but truly, failure is the only way to experiment and grow from those experiments. you can read as many playbooks or stories to success as you want, but you can only learn through your own experiences: the successes and more importantly, the failures.

school isn’t built for this experimentation. you’re only met with positive response and reward if you’re correct and succeed. ✔️

oh, you tried an alternative method for the chem lab? failing grade. it’s a science experiment, but you’re not actually allowed to experiment. just follow exactly what the procedure says.

this is why you don’t really learn in school, you just consume knowledge and memorize it, hoping it sticks. the school system sucks for learning, because it doesn’t reward you for actually trying and failing.

go fail at something!
