onto today’s topic: feed your soul 🪄

even when picking elective courses, looking at exchange programs or picking up classes for a new hobby, majority of us have the immediate inclination to choose the option that benefits us professionally or academically.

while it’s true, you might enjoy your job or education, it’s important to set aside a bucket in your life for things that truly feed your soul with no other ulterior motive. you’ll discover that you actually learn a lot more through doing that. 🍎

take that random class that has absolutely nothing to do with computer science. choose a study-abroad program that will teach you french when your major is biology. start taking pottery classes despite working as a freelance web developer full-time.

do things because you want to, not just because they “provide value” to your life. i put that phrase in quotes because feeding your soul provides more value that you can possibly imagine, but our perception of this value in today’s society is very different. 😞 value is seen as career progression and increasing the digits in our bank accounts; however, it’s more than that. any catalyst for your journey of learning more about yourself is valuable, and the same goes for anything that makes your heart swell or lights your fire for life.

you can make time for the small dreams you’ve cast away over the years. you just need to be a little creative with that time.
