onto today’s topic: getting something you really want šŸ¤ž

the downside of not letting rejections to programs or internships get to me is that i don’t allow myself to get emotionally attached to the role. of course, i’ll put my best foot forward and pour genuine energy into an application, but i won’t be thinking about it constantly. if something isn’t meant to be, that’s okay, and it’s onto the next.

even when i was applying to colleges and universities, i didn’t have a dream school that could devastate me with a rejection letter. the same applies to planning out my gap year — i knew my options extended past the few i could see right in front of me. although i’d say that’s a pretty healthy mindset to have, it does sometimes feel like my excitement over the wins i should be proud of is stifled. 🤐

for the past 3 weeks, i’ve been applying/interviewing to a professional business society whose community i truly resonated with. i really wanted this to be meant to be, and i forgot how that felt. honestly, i put in the same tangible effort to all the endeavors i set my mind to; however, there was an emotional piece involved this time, which i generally tend to avoid, but i found it positively fueling my interview responses and enjoying the process.

it does indeed feel great to get something you really want. bit of a no brainer, isn’t it? it felt pretty damn good holding the hand-written cards welcoming my acceptance into the society. 😁

i’m allowed to want things, and be disappointed about not achieving them. the important part is always bouncing back and doing better the next time around.
