onto today’s topic: girlhood 👯♀️
“how does my hair look?”
“can i borrow your mascara?”
“omg, you look amazing!”
“can i be completely honest …”
i love being a girl, especially when surrounded by other girls. there’s an unspoken culture and love we all have for each other.
i often question the need for romantic love when such a pure, joyful, platonic love for my friends exists. getting ready together, sharing our most vulnerable moments across trials and tribulations, exploring new café spots and putting together silly little picnics, it’s so, so warm. 🌻
i went to a diwali party last night with ananya and alice, and the party was super fun don’t get me wrong, but the best part was getting ready together and hanging out afterwards. we were huddled around ananya’s phone for a solid half hour after the party deciding which pictures she should post, and i absolutely loved it.
“this is so girl.” honestly, no better way to put it. 🤞
i’m so glad that i no longer see being described as girly or feminine as negative, i have grown and find a lot of empowerment in it. yes, it is so girl of us, and that is amazing.
i was the kid that tried my hardest to fit into the “tomboy” archetype. i tried so hard to prove myself by discarding my girly side. it was only in high school when i internalized that there is so much strength in girlhood.
the unwavering positivity and support paired with our shared experiences is unmatched. 💌
