onto today’s topic: go register to vote 🇨🇦
hi canadian readers. i’m going to need you to register to vote — the federal election is on april 28th in a month. you must be a registered voter in order to participate in canada’s democracy.
register here (all you need is your id and proof of address, which can also be included within your id!).
don’t know if you’re an eligible voter? if you’re a canadian citizen and are at least 18 years old by april 28th, you can vote. you should vote. 🫵
not educated enough to vote? you can read the profile of each registered political party here. the notable parties include the liberal party, conservative party, new democratic party (ndp), and green party. if you’re not too in-the-know with the news, it’s important to note that the new party leader for the liberals is mark carney, and not justin trudeau.
no longer living in canada? not a problem, neither am i. you should apply to vote by mail here asap! you’ll need to allow for the time it takes a voting kit to be sent to your international address. canada will pay for your envelope and anything needed to mail in your ballot — you just need to sign up online. 🙏
i just registered and timed myself. it took 3 minutes and all i had was my driver’s license.
don’t take democracy for granted. it’s only ever maintained because of the people that practice and uphold it. one vote does indeed make a difference, because that shared mindset is what actually drives the larger impact.
i can guarantee that you have 5 minutes to spare. use it to exercise your rights.
