crazy weather, right? 🗣️

onto today’s topic: have a list of interesting questions 🗣️
i love talking when the topic of conversation is something interesting. unfortunately, my small-talk capabilities definitely need some work, which is why i take a different approach that has served me extremely well.
i always have a list of 2-3 interesting questions top of mind that can spark a conversation with substance. none of the, “crazy weather, right?” stuff. 😭
it’s also a very easy way to suss out similar interests, values, and share a little bit about yourself through the questions you ask. this strategy is applicable both in my personal and professional life. always have questions ready, in any situation.
developing good questions is a learned skill, and it’s especially tricky when you should listen to others with the intent to understand and not the intent to respond. conversations aren’t meant to be rehearsed, but i do think it’s helpful to have a couple questions to fall back on. 🤞 it’s not inauthentic to do so at all, as long as you’re genuinely interested in getting to know the other person.
if you’re struggling to come up with fun questions, just think of what you would be excited to answer or talk about. (:
