onto today’s topic: i love birthdays 🎂 

i adore birthdays.

never once have i thought, “they’re just another day.” how could that possibly be true? this was the day a loved one was born — what is that, if not wonderfully special? ✨ 

it’s a reminder of how far you’ve come. each day, week, month and year of you on this earth is a testament to your strength, growth, and love you’ve continued to hold for yourself and those around you.

i give full credit for my loving relationship with birthdays to my mom who, without fail, made me feel like the most special person in the world every single year on january 27th. even 13,000km apart last year on my birthday while i was in zanzibar, the first thing i did was look to my phone for my family’s messages pouring in with love. 💌 birthdays are special in our household — they have always been, and i try my absolute best to extend that prized feeling the friends i hold dearly to my heart.

modern society makes it impossibly easy to show someone how much you mean to them. it’s so simple to uber eats a cake to a dorm or pick up send them a heartfelt message, so put in that effort for others. 🫵 

birthdays are never just another day. they’re a day to celebrate you and your positive impact on the people and world around you. they’re special. :)
