onto today’s topic:
i love my family 🫂
every day i feel endlessly grateful for my family. we’ve learn, loved, and grown so much together and i am most appreciative of our collective malleability. we are all so open to change — both internally, and externally, and i believe that singlehandedly determines the cohesiveness and belonging within a family.
i have made many mistakes. every single one of us in our 5 person home has. yet at the end of the day, we come back to that same home knowing it will always be there (i miss it a lot right now). i love my mom, dad, sister and brother to pieces and wouldn’t trade this blessing for anything in the world. 🌎️
let me tell you a little bit about them!
my brother, aveer, is 8 years old in 3rd grade and i guess you could call him the most recent addition. it’s kind of unbelievable that i’ve lived most of my life without his presence in it since he is such a huge part of me and holds a big chunk of my love. he loves tinkering away with legos and being fixated on the new youtube shorts trend, as all of gen alpha does. best of all, he’s so driven for an 8 year old. i love watching him grow every day (make it slow down!).
my sister, guneet, is 15 years old in 10th grade and my sister in every sense of the word. not a day goes by where i don’t feel fiercely proud of her, and not a single person will ever match how unhinged i can be around her. i’ve lived all of my conscious years with her. she’s super interested in mental health and is exploring psychiatry as a career. she also has a podcast! you can sign up to speak on it here. 🎙️
my mom is my best friend. in the tallest heights of my emotions, she’s the first person i think of, and the first person i’ll call. i can’t imagine my life without my mom — there’s no chance i’d be anywhere close to the person i am today without her. she’s an entrepreneur that has been running a tutoring academy for over 12 years after getting her masters in statistics at the university of toronto. i know i can achieve great things, because my mom has done exactly that with compassion and love at the forefront.
my dad is my rock. he was the first person to jump on board when i voiced my desire to take a gap year, as he is with many of the ambitions i express. i don’t tell him enough, but the mental fortitude and self-assuredness i’ve been able to cultivate thus far is largely attributed to my dad’s relentlessness in being himself. he’s the director of transportation for the city of mississauga, yet humble to a fault, and is one of the hardest workers i’ve ever seen. 💪
fun fact, my parents actually have the same first name: prabhjot.
i love my family, and miss them a lot. (:
