onto today’s topic: i’m not a picky eater but … 🍽️
i would say i’m down to try anything as long as it’s vegetarian. i’m not picky when it comes to exploring new dishes from all sorts of cultures.
BUT.
i will say that my bar for great food is pretty high. i love to eat, and grow very attached to my favourite dishes. you will always catch me returning to cafés and restaurants for a singular item on the menu. 🍟
i can count those kinds of extremely memorable plates on my fingers though. sometimes my high standards for flavour leads me to believing that being indian is a curse, because our food is just so good. it’s a hard flavour profile to beat. i grew up eating delicious, flavourful food 3 times a day, every day (thanks mom 💘), so my expectations are high by default.
indian food (my mom’s, even more specifically) is always that successful cousin i’m comparing other food to.
it’s pretty obvious when i don’t like a dish too. 😭 i keep the compliments rolling when i love the food, and am pretty silent besides showing my appreciation for whoever made it otherwise.
i used to pick out certain vegetables as a kid, as we all did, but now i don’t really do that (large tomato slices in sandwiches is where i draw the line though). so although i’m not picky at all in trying new food and giving anything a go, i am picky with what i deem as fantastic food.
