onto today’s topic: i’m not superstitious 🧘‍♀️

i’m not superstitious.

i’m not superstitious.

i’m not superstitious.

say it 3 times and it’ll come true.

haha, kidding. 🥸

as we know, i’m pretty driven by science and reasoning. i don’t like leaving things up to what’s out of my control, like superstition. chalking up a failed test or visa mishap to the stars not aligning feels a liiiittle like a cop out.

but, i understand completely the additional sense of security and comfort it may provide. rituals and superstition are different to me; one is a mini routine that instills confidence and peace, and superstitions feel like more strictly held practices.

i know so many athletes that have pre-game rituals, and that’s so valid. once it crosses a threshold of losing a game and blaming a missing bracelet however, i can’t say i relate anymore. 😭

i approach superstitions as a fun little game personally. of course we’re not going to split the pole. 😟 maybe i’ll also wear an evil eye necklace. i don’t take it seriously though — even if things go wrong, i try to blame the facts and things i could’ve controlled.

i’d be interested to learn more about the spiritual side of superstitions though.

s/o torrey for the topic idea.
