inbox zero
a subtle flex or a weird quirk? 📧
welcome to introspection ft. harsehaj! ⭐️ i’m harsehaj, an 18 y/o always up to something in social good x tech.

onto today’s topic: inbox zero 📧
my inbox is always at 0.
even weirder, i delete nearly all of my emails.
for some reason i can’t stand it when there are unread emails in my inbox. i will immediately do one of the following:
1) reply or fulfill the call to action
2) just read it, and keep it in the inbox if it’s useful
3) delete it 🔪
i will not ignore an email if it’s junk or useless, it must be deleted. inboxes with like 50+ notifications are wild to me. i need to be able to keep track of what emails i have left to address. there’s no point wasting mental energy trying to keep up with the most urgent emails when a notification counter can just do that for me — why give myself more problems?
at the end of each day, i always ensure my inbox is at zero. after working with so many people i’ve realized that timely replies are truly so appreciated, mostly because most people don’t expect them. 🫣 you also get the ball rolling so much quicker — opportunities can be time-sensitive, really cool people you want to book meetings with have restricted schedules, and it leaves a positive impression on others.
if my inbox ever exceeds past 8 unreads i will literally pause whatever i’m doing and power through gmail. it’s a great way to make use of my commute time too, i don’t really need my whole laptop-desk setup to reply to emails and save links.
what’s your inbox tendency? zero? maybe 10,000?
