onto today’s topic: instant vs. delayed gratification ⌚️

results are very rarely immediate. yet, we often get sick of the realistic timeline required to hit our goals.

progress requires patience and constantly showing up even if nobody is watching.

you can’t start making content and bet on your first tiktok blowing up. you also can’t hit the gym once and expect to see the gains the next day. 💪

this mindset of needing immediate fulfillment of your needs or desires is called instant gratification, and it’s not necessarily a good thing — you’ll find yourself taking a lot of granted, becoming lazy, and chasing high after high irrationally with little to no direction.

i’m a victim of instant gratification. i’ll catch myself wanting to trade in hard work for a perfect 1st shot at success, but that’s not how building projects, growing this blog, or improving my health works at all. 🤨

choose delayed gratification, the ability to withstand the temptation of an immediate reward in favour of a more valuable and long-lasting reward later on.

good things take time. it’s hard to remind yourself of that fact when classmates are posting “so excited to announce _____!” on linkedin every single day, but every hour of hard work is an hour put into yourself and that will always pay off.
