onto today’s topic: i’ve never been so politically invested 🇺🇸 

and i’m not even american.

it seems like the whole world is tuning in on the comedy show known as the us presidential election. in 2020, i was also tuning in but i wasn’t really seriously invested. the climate in 2024 is quite different now that i will actually be impacted by the aftereffects of a ridiculously polarized political landscape. 🌆 

i never thought i’d be staying up in a dorm lounge streaming the live election polls with my friends. i never thought i’d join them and go canvassing across campus. i never thought i’d code part of a live election polling website.

there’s something equal parts exciting and nerve-wracking about being on campus in such a politically-charged time of year. it will also only every happen once while i’m in college. 🤷‍♀️ 

turns out, voting is such an easy gateway for conversation and gathering a good read on someone. a simple, “have you voted?” is simple grounds for a conversation about someone’s plans, political inclination, and general outtake on their character.

i feel worried for america, and i never have before because i didn’t care enough.
