onto today’s topic: just landed in seoul 🇰🇷

last night i got off a plane and found myself at the incheon airport in south korea. i fumbled around with withdrawing cash from an atm and getting a tmoney card to get on a subway, and when i finally arrived in seoul, the first impression was significant.

flashing lights were everywhere, every student was dressed like they’re at fashion week, and sheer amount of shops beckoning me like they’re casting spells of consumerism. 🛍️

one of the first things i noticed was how many young people were out and about, despite it just being a thursday. i saw only 3 children throughout the entire 40 minutes we were walking around hongdae, and that was really surprising. in some ways, it resembled parts of san francisco: streets filled with strictly people in their 20s. in this part of seoul, it was strictly high school to college students filling the streets. i suppose it might be because this area is a university hotspot with both yonsei university and hongik university right by hongdae.

it was shocking to see just young people everywhere, but i absolutely loved it. the energy was electrifying and there was something that caught my eye every which way i turned. ⭐️ if i was going to stay in seoul for a longer time, i’d definitely go broke. the perfect consumption environment is crazy, because after all, the entire street is catered to my age group with internet cafés, clothing stores, stalls for trinkets, street food, and so much more.

a few hours in, and i am in love with seoul’s vibe.
