onto today’s topic: what would my last meal be? 🍴

i love food .. so much. my wallet kinda hates me for it.

i’m always down to try new (vegetarian) dishes and sometimes try my hand at cooking them up as well. i’ve had a lot of delicious meals with different stories, so it might seem difficult for me to pick a meal for my last one.

but, it’s not hard at all. after all, i always find myself going back to the indian food i’ve grown up with.

during shad at ubc, i was so excited to see some indian food on the cafeteria menu after weeks of questionable seasoning choices. too bad it sucked.

palak paneer? nah, that was a boiled spinach salad with paneer tossed in.

so, the first thing i did when i got back home was eat a huge plate of chole bhature. my tastebuds were revived. 🙏

after a week in europe, my family and i relished in the daal makhni at a little punjabi restaurant in luzern. the italian and swiss cuisine were amazing don’t get me wrong, but indian food feels like a hug.

still, indian cuisine is vast. i have yet to narrow it down to one meal!

i gave it some thought and landed at my mom’s homemade khichdi (with dahi, very important), a south asian dish made with rice and lentils. my mom would always make it for me when i wasn’t feeling well. i love it so much that i would even ask her to make it on my birthdays. 🎁

throughout my childhood and now, i look forward to the days where the pressure cooker has khichdi cooking inside. pouring my dahi over it in shapes of smiley faces and hearts, it’s a warm memory with yummy flavours that i cherish.

i love food, and my mom’s khichdi even more.

btw if you’ve never had indian food outside of butter chicken and naan, wyd??

cool finds of the day 🔍️
