onto today’s topic: maintain a standard of excellence 🎖️

in the professional world, you’re always being perceived. your character is scrutinized, your potential is evaluated and boxes are perpetually being ticked off.

i try to present the best version of myself at all times in these settings. i don’t necessarily mean being a suck up and acting like a fake version of myself 24/7. this is more about upholding myself to a certain standard of excellence. 🏆

showing my preparation, attention to detail and just the general act of going the extra mile. these traits are deeply appreciated and leave a strong positive impression on others.

even if it’s just an intro call to someone, prepare for it as if it were an interview. do that background research, ask questions and send a follow-up email. i thought these little things like following up, introducing others and working on projects were commonplace because of the people i’m surrounded by, but once i entered the much larger adult world, i realized that it’s actually surprisingly easy to leave a strong impression of you stick to your own excellence. ⭐️

that excellence becomes your brand and people will know you for how you go the extra mile and execute with a stellar attention to detail.

if you’ve ended off a call with “i’m excited to stay in touch,” well, stay in touch! scrape through everything you talked about in that meeting and send correlating links, ask another question and keep the conversation’s momentum going. 🔁

don’t just be another student that asked for a call.

be excellent.
