onto today’s topic: matching others’ energy ⚡️

something i’ve been wary of admitting to myself for a long time is that i overthink whether or not i should match other people’s energy.

i had a great conversation with torrey today and it was comforting to finally get that hesitance off my chest. 🫂 i often second guess when reaching out to friends because a thought like “what if they think this is annoying?” shoots through my mind like a dagger.

i’m slowly becoming more shameless with my invite texts to hang out and i feel as though i’ve made a lot of progress in that department. however, when i happen to sense a lack of reciprocity, it often feels like i’ve been set back to square one and my walls skyrocket with greater fortitude. 🧱

i know that i can’t entirely control whether or not i vibe with someone, but there’s a difference between knowing it, and being totally okay with it. i don’t think someone can be completely fine with being disliked, and that’s only a testament to our light and the love we hold as humans. it’s a good thing to be hurt, even if it sucks. 😞 something i admire about torrey is his relentlessness in keeping that light burning brightly. it’s something i’d like to internalize within myself.

being super excited about something and then being met with the most dry response is the worst feeling ever. debating whether or not the problem is you or chalking it up to it just being the other person’s personality is exhausting. even when it doesn’t work out, i still firmly believe it’s always better to choose your energy.
