mental reply game

i didn't actually hit send 💬

onto today’s topic: mental reply game 💬

i have this bad habit of mentally acknowledging notifications and then forgetting to actually reply.

regardless of if it’s an email, text or anything else, i have a tendency to forget about replying especially if i’m on the go. chances are that i probably am on the go, which is why this happens somewhat often.

i typically either reply immediately if i’m not doing anything, or i’ll make a mental note to reply later when i don’t have my hands tied with something else. those mental notes sometimes get lost in the day’s busy schedule and i only realize the unread message when i’m scrolling through my inboxes at the end of the day, or week. 😭

i’ll also create the illusion that i replied by just thinking of my response, yet never typing it out and hitting send. this habit trips me up because i’ll genuinely think i replied, but that reply just remained in my head.

being more active about replying to emails (especially) and texts is something i’m working on — if not immediately, then hopefully by the end of the day.

other than these occasional mental replies, i’d say my reply game is pretty decent. you wouldn’t have to wait for the next 5 business days, and i definitely hope the same from others as well. 📱

of course, allowing others grace is important as well. texts sometimes truly do get missed or accidentally marked as read.

what’s your reply game like?
