onto today’s topic: more of a city girl 🏙️
i’ve been at chapel hill for a little over a month now, and it’s clearer than ever that i’m more of a city girl opposed to living in a small town.
ideally, it’d be a city very close to beautiful nature (hint: bay area). that’s also why i don’t love new york city’s vibe — it’s too city, but it’s not that hard to get out and touch grass. with city life, there’s always something to do. chapel hill’s little college town doesn’t really share that sentiment and it’s making me feel a little claustrophobic. 📦️
i don’t think this claustrophobia is entirely amounted to the fact that this is a small city, because i didn’t feel this way at all while in a rural farming town in japan. there, i had novelty and an end date within sight which is likely why. here, in chapel hill, the end date is far and the nature isn’t particularly out of this world.
i like the easy accessibility within big cities, diversity of both people and activities, and pulsing excitement that seems to drip from all the lights and music. 🎶
i’ve already made it a point to get out of the area every week because i value the experience of exploration very highly. maybe i’ll be converted eventually.
