onto today’s topic: my resolution structure ✏️

i always revamp my notion for the year, but new year’s resolutions are something i don’t feel entirely certain about.

sure, they’re a good reset point, but i like having multiple resets in my year — the school schedule makes this easy too. semester 1, the summer & semester 2. even without the school calendar, i’ve found that my years often become segmented in this way.

i do have a specific way i like to articulate my new year resets though, and it has changed a little since 2024’s goal setting. it comes in 4 parts:

  1. future-me paragraph: i’ll write a paragraph of what i envision my life, and myself, to look like in one year. i’ll also list out 3 values i want to live closely by over the next 12 months. 📕

  2. 3-4 top of mind goals: these are my biggest priorities for the year and aren’t specific to one bucket of my life.

  3. goals pertaining to my character: the characteristics and/or habits i want to improve. these also serve as a reflection for how i want to grow as a person mentally. 🌈

  4. more specific goals grouped into buckets: my 4 buckets include professional, health, personal, and school. these are the smart goals and ones to be more conscious of on a weekly basis.

how do you set your new year’s resolutions?
