onto today’s topic: neoplants 🪴 

a lot of us have air purifiers in our home, but we often forget that nature and plants are the most powerful purifier of all. neoplants is taking a world-first approach and innovating in the space of supercharging nature.

neoplants is a b2c startup that boasts neo px as their core product: the ultimate natural air purifier. it’s literally a plant, but it has been boosted with billions of air-purifying bacteria vie gene editing. it’s entirely natural, and cleanses the air up to 30x better than any houseplant. interestingly, the air inside our homes is 5x more contaminated than outdoor air due to volatile organic compounds (vocs) — neo px works to reduce this and improve our quality of life.

neoplants targets the indoor air purification market with its genetically engineered plants, specifically neo px. the company operates in the broader air purification sector, projected to reach $17.7 billion globally by 2028, growing at a cagr of 8.1% (source).

with over $20 million raised to support r&d and scaling operations, and already shipping product retailing for $179, i’m interested to see neoplants’ impact and units sold in the near future.

questions i’d be interested to ask:

• what was the biggest blocker in going from r&d to market?
