onto today’s topic: not caring enough to vote is entitled 😐️

it’s an interesting feeling going to school in the united states as a canadian citizen, especially in the current political climate. i have no voting power despite every single decision having its effects trickle back to me and my autonomy in this country.

i make jokes about being unable to register to vote, but it really frustrates me when i see people uninterested and not registered to vote. there are so many different methods to vote that it’s hard not to, and still, there will be millions of people that don’t vote in the upcoming election. 🗳️

intentionally choosing not to vote is a plain display of privilege. you could practically get a loudspeaker and yell, “none of these policies will compromise my livelihood, so i don’t care,” from the rooftops, and it would have the same effect.

one of the biggest differences i’ve noticed between america and canada is how polarized the politics are. in parts of the country, it’s practically grounds for civil war. not caring about this is entitled. 🤨

you can’t be removed from politics. it holds more power over our lives than i’d like to admit. the only way to exercise control over this system is to put your name where your beliefs lie, even if that action seems so minuscule in the face of 340,000,000 other americans.

if you’re able, you should vote.

if you value your rights, you should vote.

if you care, you should vote.

go vote.
