one of my favourite phrases

from a user experience nerd 🗣️

onto today’s topic: one of my favourite phrases 🗣️

my lingo has been very heavily influenced by startup nerd culture. i kinda love it. my favourite phrase as of late has been saying, “wow this is a poor user experience,” to literally anything i find unsatisfying.

can’t open the popeyes box with ease? poor user experience.
my pants have no pockets? poor user experience.
crime riddling the streets of toronto? poor user experience. 👮

ui/ux work is a lot of fun so it’s actually a great thought experiment reflecting on my experience as a user with all of the different products i use every day. it’s an easy way for me to use those insights and apply them towards my own ideas in the future without doing as much extensive research when the push comes to shove.

turning life's little annoyances into a game of spot the bad ux is so entertaining. every horribly done packaging or weird login experience is like a free lesson on what not to do. who needs a fancy college design lecture when you have the real learning all around you? it’s like i’m always in class, but without the homework, exams and endless stress. 😍

yeah, it’s a funny thing to say in the moment, but it has also changed the way i look at my own projects. every time i roll my eyes at something annoying, i double-check my own projects. 🤓 am i also guilty of making something that’s a pain to use? it’s like having a constant reality check buzzing in the back of my head.
