onto today’s topic: pressure to do it all ⚖️
i juggle a lot of different commitments in my day-to-day life.
the reason why i rarely feel overwhelmed by it, however, is because i’ve honed the skill of prioritization pretty well.
there’s always a pressure to do more — to do it all. there’s a difference between feeling that pressure out of obligation to succeed, and wanting to do it all. the latter is a whole other topic that i alluded to in a previous post. i would love nothing more than to live multiple, fulfilled lives in this lifetime. unfortunately, our capitalist society isn’t supportive of that. 😬
i sympathize with feeling like the best way to optimize for success is to do everything all at once. make content on the side, get perfect grades, maintain a healthy lifestyle, have an internship lined up, be part of a dozen clubs, go out every weekend with friends, run a non-profit … and that’s only the start.
you don’t have to do it all.
being an executive for 6 different clubs doesn’t ever serve you well. neither does starting 5 different personal projects and then competing in 4 different hackathons in the span of a month. 📆
imposter syndrome is a real thing, but just because you’re not doing “as much” as someone else, doesn’t mean you don’t deserve success.
