i need more rabbit-hole-athons

setting aside time to deep dive 🐰

onto today’s topic: i need more rabbit-hole-athons 🐰

i went to the cutest, coziest event yesterday. it was a small-scale version of the rabbit-hole-athon. think hackathon, but for diving deep into rabbit holes instead of building projects.

we each came with different articles that we were interested in, and then voted on which article we wanted to all collectively read. after sipping on pineapple mango tea and ordering $300 worth of chinese food, we decided on an article titled “science is a strong-link problem.” 🔬

it was mind-blowing in two ways:

  1. oh my god i never thought of this concept (you should give it a read!).

  2. oh my god i need to read more articles that challenge my thoughts.

i immediately found myself clicking into other the other linked articles and searching terms up on google. it has been so long since i had that feeling of diving deeper and deeper into a fascinating concept that has absolutely nothing to do with a project i’m working on.

this is going to sound like the nerdiest thing ever but i genuinely felt so intellectually stimulated making counterpoints and discussing this article with our little group of 7 people. my thoughts were challenged and i was able to learn from the viewpoints of psychologists, technologists, geologists, and enthusiasts of anything in between. 🌍️

i now have 6 more articles bookmarked to read before sleeping tonight because i’m so eager to experience that joy of falling into a rabbit hole and sparking insightful conversation with others.

i think my weekends, or at least part of it, should be rabbit-hole-athons where i just click, read and search for hours, letting my curiosity consume me.

first one is this weekend, i’ll let you know how it goes. 😋
