onto today’s topic: ramp 💸
i notice i gravitate heavily towards healthtech startups, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but my knowledge across fintech and others industries is quite narrow. so, this week’s startup spotlight is on ramp, a product i’ve actually used.
in one line, ramp is essentially an all-in-one spending platform for existing companies. long story, it’s a b2b tool built to streamline spend management for companies of all sizes. more than just tracking expenses, ramp automates every part of the spending workflow — from setting up virtual cards to processing/managing receipts and generating real-time insights on spending trends. teams can monitor and control expenses, set budgets, and get valuable analytics, all in one place. their primary value-add is improving efficiency and cutting down time for finance teams. 🧑🤝🧑
let’s talk numbers! 🤓
the expense management software market is projected to grow at a cagr of around 10% from 2024 to 2032, with the market size expected to reach approximately $16.79 billion by 2032 (source). north america is the global leader in the market, benefiting significantly from efficiency gains from platforms like ramp.
ramp enables company savings of 3.5% on average by eliminating unnecessary expenses, as users can easily track spending in real-time and manage budgets more effectively. furthermore, in finance-heavy tasks such as expense reporting, reconciliation, and month-end closing, ramp has enabled teams to cut close times by 22% on average (source).
questions i’d be interested to ask:
what does the onboarding flow look like for companies vs. their individual employees?
how does ramp use ai to automate more of the dashboard user flow?
how has the frontend interface improved over the years? what were the biggest points of feedback?
that’s ramp!
