onto today’s topic: recipe for a hangout 🧺
i’m always down for a “go where the vibes take us” plan, but the vibes still need a vision. while i am a pretty spontaneous person, i don’t like pointlessly wasting time trying to figure out what we should do after meeting up.
what i typically do is have a few spots within commutable/walkable distance of each other planned and letting those transition times be for where the vibes take us. if we end up with a completely different itinerary in the process, no problem at all. hangouts tend to be the most fun when everyone’s energy is carrying the adventure, but there should always be a starting spot. best if it’s a spot to grab a drink or snack — energy needs to be up for a fun hangout. ;)
not only a starting point, there should be a fallback plan in case the city vibes aren’t speaking out to you. 🏙️ i like saving the actual meal for towards the end, because i’ve found that eating until a full stomach makes my friends and i super drowsy LOL.
find activities to do: whether that’s going grocery shopping for a picnic at the park, painting pottery, thrifting … anything. i’m a firm believer that you enjoy the company of others when you’re making new memories together rather than just “catching up” over coffee.
even something as simple as playing cards at a café does the trick.
so, go where the vibes take you for your next hangout, but don’t be completely reliant on it. 🤷♀️
