onto today’s topic: scarcity mindset 🥧 

do you have old sticker packs lying around because you didn’t use them as a kid in fear of wasting or finishing them?

same.

being overly fixated on things you don’t have in turn makes you terrified of losing them when you do have them in your grasp. it’s like saving up for a new pair of shoes but never wearing them because you don’t want them to get ruined. why’d you buy the pair of shoes then? 👟 

the scarcity mindset goes beyond self-preservation. it’s like this irrational fear always telling you that people are taking from you if they’re growing. it’s the mentality of seeing life as a finite pie — if one person takes a chunk, it leaves less for everyone else. this isn’t a healthy perspective.

if your reaction to a close friend getting admission into your dream program is “crap, she decreased my chances,” that’s unhealthy, and can ruin your relationships. realistically, your chances are exactly the same. even if she was rejected, that wouldn’t have made you a more qualified candidate regardless. 😬 

on another note, don’t compromise and accept opportunities you’re uninterested in because you think nothing else will ever come by. know your worth, and know there’s more.

the only way to stop focusing on everything that’s lacking is to appreciate what you do have: an abundance mentality. life isn’t a finite pie. we grow. opportunities increase. our circles grow larger.

life is large, and there’s enough for us all.

to live with abundance is to know you can just bake more pies. :)
