onto today’s topic: physical setup for success 🖥️
i already talked about optimizing my digital workspace, so now it’s time for the physical one. regardless of where i work or what i’m working on, it needs to be up to par.
whether it’s outside, the library or my room, it needs to be cute, clean and bright. your surroundings play a huge part in productivity since it dictates your focus and motivation. at least, it does for me.
i find a lot of joy in decorating my space and making it very me. it’s comfortable, and i’m always able to head to the rooftop or a library if i want a change of scenery.
setting up a physical space for success isn’t just about picking room decor, it also trails back to noise levels and the people you’re around.
part of why i have mixed feelings about co-working is the duality of pressure. yes, pressure is good to stay focused and on track, but it can also be demotivating if it turns into a productivity competition. 🏅 i tend to do my deep work solo, and join others when i’m in more creative or conversational phases of my work.
productivity is like an intricate recipe you can never master, but can get close enough. catering your workspace to your preferences is an underrated ingredient that controls a large chunk.
literally just putting a real plant in my room fired up my motivation for some reason. probably because my room is filled with the things i love, so that in turn fills me with energy to do more, efficiently. 🪴
my physical space sets me up for productive success because i feel good being in it.
do you decorate your space?
