a small dream i have
one of many, but this one takes place in india 👩🏫

onto today’s topic: a small dream i have 👩🏫
i lead a non-profit initiative, codespire, where we deliver tech education to underserved youth all around the world. i started this initiative with a small dream in mind: to establish digital literacy programs in the punjabi cities my parents grew up in.
after listening to my parents’ childhood stories and visiting their hometowns myself, i’ve noticed that there is a huge lack of tech education access in punjab despite 90% of the population using/owning smartphones.
as a result, the talented people that realize this and have ambitions of working in tech or starting their own businesses leave punjab to find work/education elsewhere. this leaves punjab sinking further and further behind in bridging the digital literacy gap. punjab’s tech literacy inaccessibility pushes their own talent away. ❌
it’s a small dream of mine to plant a few seeds for tech education. whether it’s leading a few workshops at a gurdwara in jalandhar, or working with a local high school to establish basic curriculum.
i hope for these seeds to later bloom into well-established tech education infrastructure for millions of punjabi students. so much passion for learning and education is lost through the risk of immigration in hopes of attaining more opportunities and a better life in other regions of india, canada or the us.
why can’t a better life be found right within punjab as well? why can’t technology be used to empower millions of youth? why can’t opportunities flourish and take off into successful startups in punjab? 📈
there is so much talent in punjab, and tech education accessibility needs to catch up. my small dream is to actualize this for even 5 kids in the cities my parents grew up in.
maybe this dream will come into fruition soon? stay tuned. ;)
what’s a dream that you have? small, big, or anything in between.
