onto today’s topic: snowday in seoul ❄️
i didn’t bring a winter jacket to korea.
and yesterday it snowed. ❄️
my fingers were numb and my nose was laughably red but i took in the snow-speckled night sky with so much joy and wonder.
i’m no stranger to snow. we get it for nearly half the year in toronto after all, but there’s a magical novelty about a city painted with snow.
with people rushing home and clasping their jackets closed, hot chocolate getting picked off the 7eleven shelves one by one, snowflakes decorating the windows and my hair, i fell in love with winter once more. ☕️
the thing about it snowing frequently in toronto is that this winter wonderland image is rewritten by slush and black ice everywhere. as a new friend and i walked by hangang river in ttukseom hangang park, i was seriously geeking over snow. i felt like a kid.
i ran home from my subway stop last night with a huge grin plastered across my face. it felt like time had stopped as i ran through the empty streets with my chilled breath fading into the air with each stride and music blasting from my headphones truly setting the scene of a movie. 🎧
it was so cold but i didn’t hate it. it was a refreshing kind of cold, one that breathes life into you.
i woke up this morning to the beautiful sight of snow-covered itaewon.
what a time to be alive. :)
