onto todayās topic: the isolation of ambition š
unc isnāt really the first thing you think of when you imagine a ābuilder community.ā
hell, it likely isnāt even a consideration.
this has been one of the most challenging parts of school. after my brief trip to nyc a few weekends ago, i kept asking myself, āwow, whyād it feel like my personality came back after months of not really feeling like myself in nc?ā
now, after a day-trip in miami yesterday where i was in a house filled with people wanting to build startups and create something impactful in the world, i have my answer. we always talk about wanting to join ālike-minded communitiesā and itās a laughable sentence repeated in every single job interview, but damn itās a real need. š¬
holding onto your ambitions in a huge campus where you havenāt yet found people that want to fuel that fire together is hard. itās hard to keep yourself motivated, continuously reach higher, and do the unconventional when others donāt want to.
the temptation to succumb to my personal vision of mediocrity sometimes makes its way into my head, but as soon as i enter spaces where everyone is on the same page, itās like that sliver of doubt never existed in the first place.
itās hard, but not impossible. of course, being in such a community where people are actively building projects, talking to customers and climbing higher, would make it a lot easier to channel my drive, but iām committed to actualizing my dreams, regardless of how hard it is. šŖ
a community with many ambitious dreams is wonderful, but it starts with one person with dreams akin to a beacon bringing in those people who definitely do exist. i just havenāt encountered them yet. (:
