the never-ending to-do list

how to end it (to an extent) 📜

onto today’s topic: the never-ending to-do list 📜

miscellaneous tasks pile up really quick. those emails trickling in throughout the day, maybe a cool opportunity you stumbled on that you now need to apply to, or maybe you need to clean your room 🧹 — so many small tasks that take a long time to get through if they’re left to build up.

i’m extremely guilty of letting smaller to-do’s build up into large chunks and blocking “misc” into my calendar to gaslight myself into thinking i’m being productive.

it’s much quicker to just power through these to-do’s as soon as they come up. 🥊

by the end of my day, my schedule on notion is so much more cluttered with small tasks to complete before bed, which eventually carry on to the next day because i’m too tired .. or the next.

a practice i’m trying to put in place for myself is that if a task or to-do would take less than 5 minutes to complete, just get it over with as soon as it pops up. this way, my to-do list won’t seem as never-ending. at least, not with miscellaneous tasks. larger project to-do’s are in fact never-ending, but that’s acceptable.

something as simple as replying to an email or submitting a resume makes a dent in the to-do list when done immediately.
