onto today’s topic: yet another setback in vietnam 🫡
as i stared at the blinking yellow text right beside my flight number, all i could think was “you have got to be kidding me.”
i didn’t even know what the text said, it was in thai, but i had a dreadful suspicion that my flight was delayed.
a few more seconds of waiting for it to turn into english later, my suspicions were confirmed. ⚠️
wow, i must have horrible luck with vietnam.
the only reason i booked a flight to vietnam was to do the 4-day ha giang loop. i had a strict departure date of march 9th from hanoi, which still left me enough time to be flexible with my loop dates since i was supposed to be in hanoi by march 2nd. that already got pushed back to the 4th because of the whole immigration dilemma.
alright, no worries. i can still do the loop from the 5-8th. i have to drop my 2 days of exploring hanoi, but it’s all good. 😇
not all good. that 2 hour delay made it so that i wouldn’t be able to catch the last bus available to ha giang from hanoi. this meant i wouldn’t be able to start the tour until march 6th.
i would consider myself a relentless optimist honestly, but now there was no way i could do the 4-day loop and i was pretty disappointed. i wasted my whole day at the airport, with no explanation, let alone compensation, as to why the flight was delayed. i ended up adjusting the loop to be a 3-day experience instead of 4. the compromise is a more hurried schedule, and little time to actually take in the beautiful sights.
at least i still get to see them. 🏍️
the ha giang loop has already thrown so many obstacles at me, and i haven’t even started it LOL. i just stuck with the “oh well” mentality and powered through. if i let things out of my control dictate my love for life, there wouldn’t be much to relish in at all.
as a reset, i started my morning off today by trying vietnam’s famous egg coffee, and it set off a sweet tone for the day. my mood wasn’t even soured by the bus being a whole hour late. ☕️
ha giang, trust you will be dealt with.
